Nantucket Lightship Basket - Cherry Oval. 13 x 7.5 x 13 inches.

This is a 13” x 7.5” x 13” oval Nantucket Lightship Basket; it is constructed of hand-milled cherry hardwood with premium fine 1.75mm weavers. It has a flat 1” rim and handle. The rim is double lashed. It has a natural ivory plug in the interior base and a ¾” inch natural ivory artist’s medallion on the underside base. It has natural ivory flat scrimshaw on its handle of flowers and marine life and a matching 1 and ½” round natural ivory scrimshaw of flowers and marine life countersunk into a cherry back plate then mounted on the basket. It has natural hand-carved ivory on cherry knobs. The basket is dated and signed.
